Heads, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes: Why Am I in Pain?

Heads, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes: Why Am I in Pain?

As we grow older, we often joke about pain becoming a companion during our waking hours. But pain is a message from your body that something is wrong. Pain should not be the status quo and should not be ignored. It’s okay to ask: “Why am I in pain?” Here, we’ll explore some of the reasons people get headaches and experience unresolved shoulder and knee pain.

Understanding Headaches

Headaches can be caused by a variety of factors. Primary headaches are most common and can be categorized as episodic or chronic. Episodic headaches, such as migraines, tension headaches, and cluster headaches, occur occasionally, while chronic headaches are more frequent. Secondary headaches are caused by underlying conditions, such as allergies, sinus infections, hormonal imbalances, caffeine withdrawal, or high blood pressure. Headaches can even be a result of neck injury. When should you contact Spine LLC? If you are experiencing frequent or severe headaches, we can help you determine what is causing your pain and develop an appropriate treatment. If you have suffered a head injury or have a sudden and unexpected severe headache, call 911 or go to the emergency room right away.

Why Is My Shoulder Hurting?

Shoulder pain can be caused by a variety of conditions, including sports injuries and arthritis. One common cause of shoulder pain is adhesive capsulitis, also known as “frozen shoulder,” which can result from a variety of medical conditions, like strokes, for instance. Damage to the rotator cuff – a group of muscles and tendons – can also lead to shoulder pain. Impingement, a condition in which the bursa sac is inflamed, is another possible issue. A rotator cuff tear is a more serious condition that may require surgery. Chronic and acute shoulder pain can be treated in a variety of ways. We can help you determine what is causing the pain and the best approach for addressing the pain and improving your mobility.

Knee Pain – Alternatives to Surgery

If you're experiencing knee pain, surgery isn't the only option. There are many potential causes of knee pain, including injury and arthritis. Regular exercise and stretching can help maintain flexibility and reduce the risk of injury. From steroid injections that can help relieve pain as you work through our physical rehabilitation and active therapy programs, to innovative orthobiologic treatments, we will work with you and your physician to develop a customized pain management plan that gets you back on your feet.
